Yidong is a graduate student in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program at Harvard, entering in 2025-2026. He majored in neuroscience and computer science at Johns Hopkins. During undergraduate, he mainly did his research on cross-modal plasticity – the mechanism through which the brain augments the other senses when one sense is lost.
In the Farrell lab, Yidong’s main interest lies in elucidating the propagation of LFP events, the interactions between subcircuits, and the transformation of information between neuronal populations within and outside the hippocampus, with a particular focus on the ventral hippocampus. In the long term, he aims to investigate the affective functions of and the neuropeptidergic signaling in the ventral hippocampus through a systems neuroscience lens by combining in-vivo electrophysiology, imaging, neuropeptide sensors, and computational methods.
