Max completed his thesis work under Mark Bear at the MIT Brain & Cognitive Sciences where he studied the biophysical underpinnings of spontaneous activity in mouse neocortex in health and disease. His expertise in slice physiology led him to his current postdoc position studying human neocortical slice preparations in the labs of Emily Osterweil and Jordan Farrell. Max’s current work focuses on the physiological consequences of acute manipulation of key genes implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders using a battery of imaging and electrophysiological techniques. Outside lab, Max likes to hoop and dance.
