Axel Ntamatungiro
Harvard-MIT MD/PhD Candidate
Axel is a MD/PhD candidate in the Harvard-MIT MSTP and Health Sciences & Technology Program. He completed his B.A in Neuroscience at Rice University. As a NIH IRTA postbac, he studied the role of hippocampal-prefrontal oscillatory synchrony in spatial working memory performance. Currently Axel is a first-year graduate student in the Harvard Program in Neuroscience.
In the Farrell lab, Axel is interested in studying the relationship between state-dependent neuronal activity and endocannabinoid signaling in the hippocampus. He employs in-vivo calcium/endocannabinoid photometry and low-intensity focused ultrasound neuromodulation to dually monitor and manipulate hippocampal activity.
